My story
33 years ago I was born in a place called Schalkhaar in the Netherlands. I had a nice upbringing there and after high school I joined the Royal Netherlands Army as an officer in the Air Defence Artillery. During my time in the army I served in the Royal Military School in Assen to train new recruits and while there my interest in personal development and leadership became apparant. I joined in several projects on leadership and personal development, did a number of training courses and would continue to do so for my army career.
After the army I became an operations manager and later operations director within the electronics manufacturing industry. I did an Executive MBA at the University of Nyenrode and continued with my interest in personal leadership and leadership. During this period I came to realize that I wanted to approach the topic of personal leadership & leadership in a different way then is normally presented in classes, seminars and trainings and started to develop my own course materials. During this same time I was introduced to yoga and started practicing it first on a weekly and later on a daily basis. To my suprise at first, but great interest which developed into love later, yoga turned out to bring forth similar models and practices as personal leadership and leadership practices in modern psychology, many times much more comprehensive.
In 2023 I was able to give my first course on leadership and later continued with other courses on personal leadership and communication practices. The courses were centered on taking ownership and developing yourself to the best possible professional and leader. The feedback was great and I loved the process and interacting with so many different people.
In 2023 I also made the decision to go travel the world and to develop myself further. A dream for a longer time will finally become real in 2024 as I will first go to Sri Lanka & Singapore. The goal of my travels will be to develop myself through all kinds of new experiences and I will try to share these as much as possible.
Why Singularion?
I started Singularion in 2023 to work on leadership and personal leadership courses. Now that I will travel in 2024 I will have no homebase to perform live training courses from. A couple of the people I had worked with in 2023 asked for a way to keep in touch on the topics we had been working on and I tried to figure out a way how.
A dear friend of mine advised me to set up a website to share the content I had been working on for the last few years and I immediately loved the idea. I decided to make it open source because I don't believe the added value of a trainer or coach is in the theory or knowledge. Have you ever been to a course and someone is just giving you a lot of models and theories? You could have read it or watched a video about it and the effect could have been the same. A trainer or coach helps you to apply the models and see where it can be of use for you when you are trying to find your way.
Singularion will aim at providing you analyses of models, applicable formats and everything that can help you on your personal development journey. Every month I will try to highlight a topic and show its applications so you can use it in your own practice. This way you can start with your own development anytime.
